• Members and staff work together on daily operations at the Highland Center, giving a sense of purpose and pride in the program.
• Highland Center membership is free! Walk through the door and join us in a place of recovery and hope.
• Opportunities to participate in meaningful interactions, activities, and education to regain healthy social relationships in our community.

Who We Are

Highland Center is a diverse community of people who support one another in mental health wellness. This includes those living with, and in recovery from, mental illness and/or substance use disorders.

Highland Center is not a mental health treatment program but rather a welcoming and safe place for those who desire to improve the quality of their lives through meaningful interactions and social relationships. It is a place for those who are seeking mental wellness and belonging with dignity and respect for all.

What We Do (see our meals and activities schedule at bottom)

Members and staff support one another and interact together as peers. This includes daily activities, daily groups, member education, goal setting, food preparation, cleaning, promoting Highland Center and more. Teamwork is essential! The growth, opportunities and services offered at Highland Center are all dependent on the size of our community, member participation and individual needs.

A goal for the Highland Center is to serve as a bridge to our community through activities, education, social connections and personal growth.

It is a place where the stigma of mental illness ends and the celebration of mental wellness begins.

Membership

Membership is open to anyone 18 years or older who is living with mental illness or substance disorder, and who desires support in their recovery. Membership is voluntary, free and lifelong. We do have a brief questionnaire that we ask members to fill out one time so that we can get to know you better. You just need to walk through the Highland Center door and join others who offer support in recovery.

Membership is not for any person who poses a significant and current threat to the general safety or wellbeing of the Highland Center community, or anyone under the influence of substances. With this in mind there are times where an individual could be asked to leave due to negative behaviors or substance use.
